IMPERIO BAMBA

  • What this EP feels like is late night at a FESTIVAL; you have stumbled into a random tent and found a CROWD having the TIME OF THEIR LIVES in the heat of SUMMER, with Imperio Bamba CHANTING and DANCING at the front. It is unexpected but BRILLIANT.

    Latino Life

  • Imperio Bamba’s influences span their Latin American roots and beyond, with chicha, cumbia, salsa, psychedelia and Afro-Peruvian rhythms colouring their UNPREDICTABLE SOUND. Their wholehearted advocacy of freedom of MOVEMENT is not just a statement about migration, but about self-expression and dance too.

    Sounds and Colours

    Indie Rocks!

ABOUT/SOMOS

Imperio Bamba delivers an electrifying live experience rooted in
Rebel Chicha, their bold fusion of hypnotic Afro-Latin rhythms,
psychedelic synths and guitars, and commanding bilingual vocals
that reimagine Peru’s chicha through a contemporary, global lens.
Formed in North London in 2015 by Jules Drade (Peru) and Javiera
Limarí (Chile), the band channels Latin American heritage,
migrational experience, and futuristic sound into a high-energy,
genre-defying performance.

Expanded into a six-piece band with Ítalo Aráuz, Blosqui, Néstor Rojas,
and Iris Kreiman, all first-generation migrant musicians, Imperio Bamba turns each show into a dance-driven ritual, immersive, euphoric, and politically charged without losing joy. Their bilingual lyrics and Spanglish delivery treat language as a rhythmic force, creating immediate connection across cultures.

Imperio Bamba has performed extensively in the UK, Peru, and Chile, appearing at Southbank Centre, Jazz Café, Electric Brixton, Alexandra Palace, Hootananny, and The Jago. Their debut EP and critically acclaimed Rebel Chicha reimagining of “My Favourite Things” have received praise from Latino Life, Indie Rocks!, and Sounds and Colours.

Imperio Bamba is built for the stage, where movement becomes expression, the dancefloor becomes community, and music becomes a space of freedom.
